There are many factors that contribute to the shape of our eyebrows including our genetic makeup. Excessive squinting or raising the brows also play a role. Unfortunately, the number of birthdays that one has maybe the most important factor. With time, gravity tends to stretch out the forehead skin and the eyebrows droop. Wrinkling of the forehead occurs with excessive muscle action both from expression and also from the overtime work our muscles must do to keep our brows held up.
If tweezing and penciling do not do the trick, a browlift may be in order. There are several techniques that I use for raising eyebrows depending on many factors including ones anatomy and desired positioning of the eyebrows. These include endoscopic brow lift, the classic open browlift and direct browlift.

Brow Lift Techniques
There are several different techniques that can be utilized to perform a brow lift. During your consultation, Dr. Volpe can go over the details of each procedure and let you know which one can provide you with the results you are looking for.
The Endoscopic Brow Lift
The endoscopic brow lift is the browlift that is most common. This technique is a nice technique for those looking for a mild to moderate elevation of the brows, especially on the outer brows. Through short incisions on the scalp and with the help of an endoscope which is a miniature magnifying camera, stitches are placed under the skin to elevate the eyebrow.
Classic Brow Lift
The more classic open eyebrow lift involves a longer scar but is suited for those that require a maximal amount of eyebrow lift both in the outer and inner parts of the eyebrow. The location of the scar may run up and over the mid-scalp or along the hairline.
Direct Brow Lift
Direct browlifting is a small procedure that places a short scar over the upper border of the outer eyebrow when lifting the outer eyebrow. Each of the different procedures has its advantages and disadvantages and we would discuss all this during consultation.
Brow Lift Recovery
Recovery will vary based on the type of brow lift performed and other factors. There will likely be some bruising and swelling around the brow that will subside over time. Pain and discomfort should be minimal and can be handled with medication.
